Basic autopilot systems

چکیده
Previously, we have looked at the stability augmentation system. This system can be seen as the inner loop of the aircraft control system. In this chapter, we focus on the outer loop: the control augmentation system. When we want to keep a certain pitch angle, velocity, roll angle, heading, or something similar, then we use the CAS. In this way, the pilot workload can be reduced significantly. First, we’ll examine holding longitudinal parameters. Second, we’ll examine the lateral parameters as well.

Autopilots for Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: A Survey
This paper presents a survey of the autopilot systems for small or micro unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The objective is to provide a summary of the current commercial, open source and research autopilot systems for convenience of potential small UAV users. The UAV flight control basics are introduced first. The radio control system and autopilot control system are then explained from both th...
متن کاملDetermining the Consistency factor of Autopilot using Rough Set Theory
Autopilot is a system designed to guide a vehicle without aid. Due to increase in flight hours and complexity of modern day flight it has become imperative to equip the aircrafts with autopilot. Thus reliability and consistency of an Autopilot system becomes a crucial role in a flight. But the increased complexity and demand for better accuracy has made the process of evaluating the autopilot f...
متن کاملIntegrated Design of Agile Missile Guidance and Autopilot Systems
By P. K. Menon and E. J. Ohlmeyer Abstract Recent threat assessments by the US Navy have indicated the need for improving the accuracy of defensive missiles. This objective can only be achieved by enhancing the performance of the missile subsystems and by finding methods to exploit the synergism existing between subsystems. As a first step towards the development of integrated design methodolog...
متن کاملThe Autopilot Performance - Directed Adaptive
High-performance computing is rapidly expanding to include distributed collections of heterogeneous sequential and parallel systems and irregular applications with complex, data dependent execution behavior and time varying resource demands. To provide adaptive resource management for dynamic applications, we are developing the Autopilot toolkit. Autopilot provides a exible set of performance s...
متن کاملExoatmospheric interception problem solved using output feedback law
Interception problems are often dealt with by separating guidance and autopilot design. Guidance law can be obtained using optimal control theory and autopilot design is performed on a linearized system. In this paper, we introduce a new approach that determines a global guidance and autopilot law, based on direct output feedback design. Application of this method to exoatmospheric interception...
